Aging is something we all have to pass through. Some might say, it’s something we are privileged to go through.
The wrinkles are unavoidable and the sagging skin will eventually come. However, this does not mean that you can sit there helplessly as you watch your body age. There are things you can do to actually control the aging the process.
Here some top anti-aging hacks you might want to consider. You may think these things are “standard” and “everyone” does them, but a reminder every now and then is a good thing.
Moisturize Always
Our bodies are made up of mainly water. As such, you need to keep your body hydrated. Drink a lot of water to keep your body hydrated and apply a good quality lotion to prevent your skin from getting dry.
If plain water isn’t your thing, then add lemon, lime or frozen fruit to spice up the taste. Fluids not only keep the body hydrated, but also encourages detoxification.
Take Fish Oil
Not only is fish oil good for your inner body, but it is also great for your skin! Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, which helps your skin with moisture retention. Skin that retains moisture keeps you looking your best!
Exercise
Regular exercise is not only meant for heart health and stress relief and release. It also plays a key role in reducing the aging process.
Exercise slows down cell degeneration, allowing you to stay younger and healthier. There are many exercises you can do, including walking, jogging, cycling and lifting weights. The effects of exercise cannot be overstated. It will keep you mobile, flexible and release those feel-good endorphins!
Use Sunscreen
Like being outside on a beautiful sunny day? It’s no secret, getting some rays can lift your mood exponentially!
Sunshine is a natural source of vitamin D, but prolonged exposure to the sun can leave your skin dry and pale. Not to mention, it can cause skin cancer. So, when out and about enjoying the sunshine, be sure to use a good quality sunscreen. Sunscreen blocks the harmful UV rays from the sun, protecting your skin from damage.
Lower Your Stress Levels
Chronic stress affects every part of the body, including your skin. It accelerates the production of free radicals, lowers the body’s immune function and increases the rate of inflammation, all of which accelerates the aging process significantly.
Engage in activities that help relieve stress such as indulging in your favourite hobby, talking with a friend of family member, practicing yoga and meditating.
Sleep Well
You need to have enough sleep. A lot happens to your body when you sleep, including rest, regeneration, detoxification and your body rids itself of free radicals.
Create a conducive environment that allows you to have quality sleep. Do not use your cell phone or watch TV one hour before bed. Create a dark room in your bedroom or purchase a white noise machine to make you sleep better. Practice meditation or listen to relaxing music 30 minutes before bed.
Listen, you’ve got loads of years ahead of you. Make them count with consistent attention and self-care!
Until next time!
